We are so excited to announce we have five new offerings for spring term and welcome three new instructors to Village Home! Registration opens Monday, March 3rd at 9:00 am.

Spring Term New Classes & Clubs

  • Junior Foodies (Ages 6-8) with Steven: Tuesdays from 9:30-10:30 am
Introduce your child to the joys of cooking in our hands-on class. Through engaging activities, young chefs will develop essential life skills while creating simple, delicious meals, desserts, and drinks. This class fosters creativity, kitchen safety, and independence in a fun, supportive environment. Junior Foodies will feature age-appropriate recipes and cooking activities, while emphasizing kitchen safety, teamwork, and basic culinary skills. Learners will develop fine motor skills, as well as confidence in the kitchen. We look forward to nurturing your child’s culinary curiosity!
  • Kindness Club (Ages 8+) with Whisper: Thursdays from 12:00-1:00 pm
Everyone wants to feel included—and kindness is one of the best ways to make that happen! In Kindness Club, we’ll explore how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our lives and our community. Each week, we’ll read fun and inspiring stories about kindness, generosity, and inclusion. We’ll practice positive affirmations to remind ourselves to be the good we want to see in the world. We’ll also create special kindness-themed craft projects to take home and share with our families.
  • Beginning Sewing: Hand & Machine (Ages 10+) with Pauline: Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 pm
Join Pauline for 10 weeks of sewing by hand and machine. This class will dive into threading needles, pattern marking and cutting, and basic sewing construction. We’ll be sewing on buttons, snaps, hooks and eyes, practice darts, zippers, and several types of stitches. Projects during the term might include sewing a needle case, an apron, placemats, and pouches; but will reflect learners’ interests.
  • Intro to Spanish (Ages 10+) with Steven: Tuesdays from 10:45-11:45 am
In this Intro to Spanish class, we will learn the language and explore culture in a fun and dynamic way! This class is for the new beginner and those looking to refine their Spanish skills as we focus on real-world conversations, engaging lessons, and journey into Spanish-speaking traditions and customs.
  • Cosplay Club (Ages 11+) with Jessica: Fridays from 2:30-3:30 pm
Welcome to a creative space for kids who love bringing their favorite creatures and characters to life! Members can develop costume design concepts, learn makeup and prop-making techniques, and participate in cosplay events. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned cosplayer, this club is a great place to express your fandom, make friends, and develop new skills in an enthusiastic, supportive community.

Jessica Jensen: We have been so lucky to have Jessica with us since the fall term teaching Making Models and thought we’d give her a shoutout her since she’s adding Cosplay Club this spring! Jessica has been dabbling in the arts as a maker/crafter/artist since childhood. Never meeting a craft she doesn’t like, she is comfortable working in lots of mediums. She decided to homeschool her three kids, and fell in love with Village Home where her youngest now attends. She’s very excited to share her love of crafting and making with the kids of Village Home, and hopes to foster creativity and curiosity in the classes she teaches.

Pauline Koch: We cannot wait for Pauline to teach sewing this term! Pauline has been sewing off and on for over 60 years – during that time she’s taught sewing and sewn up a storm making a tailored suit, suit jackets, and many other articles of clothing. She’s helped costume plays, create quilts, and done machine embroidery, and has been a classroom assistant at VH, but her favorite role is grandma. She’s looking forward to sharing the fun and functionality of sewing with Village Home learners.

With a background in early childhood education, Steven and his wife previously owned a preschool, where he played an active role in teaching and nurturing young minds. He finds immense joy in watching children grow, learn, and have fun in the process.

Steven also has a love for science and frequently conducts fun and educational science experiments at home with his kids, sparking their curiosity and hands-on learning. Through his unique approach, Steven creates an environment where learning and fun go hand in hand.

Whisper Wilshire: Whisper is a passionate educator and creative spirit who grew up in Ontario, Canada. She has traveled across Europe and Asia, lived abroad, and taught students of all ages—from kindergarten to college. After earning her Master’s in Sociology, she moved to Korea to teach English, where she met her husband.

Since 2019, she has been a homeschooling momma to her two imaginative, fun kids. Whether exploring nature, gathering books, or turning everyday moments into learning opportunities, she believes education is everywhere. With a love for creativity and a knack for making learning engaging, she’s known for leaving a little magic wherever she goes!

Important Notice: Registration System Updates and Instructions

We want to inform you about some current issues with our registration system and provide guidance to ensure a smooth experience:

  1. Dropping a Class After Enrolling:

    • To request a drop after enrolling, please select the beginning of the term date as the drop date. We understand this is not intuitive, and apologize for the inconvenience. Please see screenshot included.
  2. Class Visibility During Registration Periods:

    • When Registration is OFF:
      • Families can log in or out to view all current fall classes.
    • When Registration is ON for Staff and Faculty between Tuesday, July 16 & 17 AND for Returning Families between Thursday, July 17 – Sunday, July 21:
      • Families will not be able to search for classes while logged in until their designated registration period.
      • Example: On Tuesday, staff and faculty will see classes when logged in because they have a keyword allowing them to register. However, a returning family will see no classes when logged in until Thursday, when their registration period begins.
      • Note: If families log out, they will still be able to see all classes and use all filters.

This issue will only persist until July 22, when registration opens to everyone.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us at office@villagehome.org.
