Drama & Theater

Our Drama Department is led by the incomparable Whitney Johnson. Each year Whitney carefully chooses the fall musical to incorporate as many learners as possible. The spring teen drama is a smaller production aimed at giving high schoolers the chance to stretch their acting wings. Both productions require stage managers, also mentored by Whitney, and often there is a Props & Costumes class (also taught by…Whitney!) for learners preferring the behind-the-scenes activities of producing a show. As of spring 2015, Village Home has a chapter of the International Thespian Society. Whitney is also active in the Portland improv community and teaches improv at Village Home as well.
